Words: Linn Branson
Although London-based indie quartet (we don't think the rather lovely dog in the picture above is yet an instrument playing member) The Youts are probably new to most, they have been busy playing around some prestigious venues in the capital including Camden Assembly and the Black Heart, over the last 18 months since forming ("[we were] just friends having fun, but it has developed now into a serious project").
They are now concentrating on putting their live sound on record, releasing their debut EP, 'Orange Eye', on May 28. They precede that with first single cut, 'Memory Loss'.
We feel tempted to say this could be more of a case of hearing loss than memory loss if played at too high a decibel level, as the three minutes of this track are pumped out at a fast, furious and fucking loud pitch - but turn down the volume, and this has a headbanging power and some infectious guitar riffs that make you want to actually hear it live. For now though, stream it here and give it some ear time.
The Youts are: Rahul Panchal (vocals, rhythm guitar), George Curnick (lead guitar), Chris Espinet (bass), Cameron Ford (drums).
