New tracks coming up from Down Under

Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.

SAGAMORE - TURNING

Second single from the Melbourne-based five-piece's debut album 'Charlemont Reef', released last week via Dusky Tracks. From a lush opening, it blends indie-pop with a soulful vocal edge.

CIGGIE WITCH - SHADOW

'Shadow' is the first cut of third album, 'Mad Music', released last month by the Melbourne six-piece, including Ocean Party's Zac Denton. Dark and jangly with chiming guitars and synth layers.

THE LOCKHEARTS - GODAMN PRETTY

'Southern-rock strut' single cut, released last week, from the Sydney quartet's forthcoming 'Americana Doom Fuzz' album (due early 2018). Written by singer/guitarist Tim Meaco during a trip to California and New York, the track wears its influences — the Eagles, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac — on its sleeve, as the frontman was a) listening to all three quite a bit at the time, and b) "wanted to capture that Californian summer-love feeling".

BRAILLE FACE - FARAWAY

Melbourne-based electronic singer-songwriter Jordan White, aka Braille Face, released this latest single on October 25. A warm and softly pulsating house track built around a soulful falsetto.

THE PHASE - BURNOUT

Alt-pop-rockers from Sydney, originally a solo project by Luke Mangraviti, are back with this follow-up to debut single 'Can't Get It'. Released last week, it was recorded with Oscar Sharah at Grouch Productions in Sydney, and delivers an upbeat summery vibe.  “This song is for all the people working hard to make money but are always too burnt out after working so hard to ever enjoy it," says Luke.

LITTLE QUIRKS - RUNAWAY

The Tooles - sisters Abbey (vocals/guitar) and Mia (drums) with cousin Jaymi (vocals, mandolin) - make up this young acoustic indie-folk trio from Newcastle, New South Wales. From their EP, 'Suzie Knows', released November 4, there's a haunting quality to Abbey Toole's lead vocals and dulcet harmonies from Jaymi with exquisite melodies.
