Track Of The Day :: Almond Soy - Happy Ever After

Words: Linn Branson

Apparently shot on Beaufort Street - which we presume is a notable street in the Australian city of Perth? - the thing that strikes visually in this new vid from Almond Soy is how empty it is. Apart from those involved in the video and a few cars, there's not another soul around. We'd like to see them try filming that on a Saturday afternoon on Oxford Street in London!

But the Australian indie-poppers have not just a gripping clip here - hard not to take one's eyes off vocalist Brandon Stockbridge - which was filmed in one running take and directed by Matty Loucas  but this latest single, 'Happy Ever After', is a jangly, instantly likeable foot-tapper that, say the band, is "a reflection on a relationship that might not have been healthy at the time. It’s about finding comfort and solace in things not lasting forever and being finite."

Almond Soy's debut EP entitled 'Social Misfit' is released on January 1 2018 - followed by their first Australian tour at the start of the month:

05 Grace Darling Hotel, Melbourne
09 Rad Bar, Wollongong
11 Vic On The Park, Marrickville
12 Heya Bar, Fortitude Valley
13 Jack Rabbit Slim's, Perth
