Vinyl Staircase, the Dorking-based four-piece, have slowly been building up their reputation gigging with the likes of Blossoms, Swim Deep, and Jaws. After putting out an EP, ‘Aquarelle’, in 2015 - while still in full-time education - they reemerged with last year's self-produced 'German Wings' (impressing the likes of Radio One's Phil Taggart, and 6Music's Steve Lamacq).
They kick off what looks like being a breakthrough year for them if this psych-fizzing new single 'Cherry', released yesterday (February 9), is anything to go by. The title track of their forthcoming EP, set to drop next month, is a thumping sub-three minutes of moreishly addictive hooky guitar riffs, pounding beats, and Mike Thorpe's, sweet cherry on the top vocal delivery, set in a 60s-esque coating. It's a good 'un.
Vinyl Staircase are: Mike Thorpe - vocals, less guitar; George Ogle - bass; Jake Andrews - guitar; Luke Andrews - drums.
