Track Of The Day :: Woahnows - Nothing Good

Credit: Minty

Words: Linn Branson

They describe themselves as "noisy-poppy-indie-punk", which is a fair description as it goes of Woahnows.

They've just recently completed a series of live dates with Fresh and The Winter Passing, and as the Bristol-via-Plymouth-based trio take a breather before they head out again shortly, we have this little tune, 'Nothing Good' to be going on with.

Savour it as it is the first piece of new material they have shared publicly for a few years since their 'Understanding and Everything Else' album. There's not a lot to it - a mere 102 seconds (that's well under two minutes for the arithmetically challenged!) - but it's so catchy, beaty and dancey - we love it!

"It was a demo originally, released to go with the tour we just completed with Fresh and The Winter Passing," singer and guitarist Tim Rowing-Parker tells us. "But it was so good to come back out to play, and a perfect tour to play loads of new songs that will be making up the new album, we're set to record at the end of April."

"The new stuff is more personal," he adds, "and sees us move closer to our power-pop side, with a pretty strong soul influence. I was always surrounded by that stuff growing up, so I guess my idea of a good pop song, is a soul tune. So this is us, a three-piece indie-punk band, trying to do our best impression with what we have."
