Track Of The Day :: Graces - Hotel

Words: Sam Geary

Cumbrian quartet Graces, now based in and around Sheffield, have started to pick up a buzz over the past year with their atmospherically melancholic soundscapes. New single 'Hotel' - released yesterday (April 6) - is an infectiously melodic sub-four minute hit of distorted guitars and alt-pop-rock sensibilities.

"'Hotel' is about restlessness, being scared of the future but also being willing to dive head first into it, without having a plan, direction or a home," say the band. "It’s about asking someone to wake you up and take you with them in the hopes that somehow it will fix you regardless of where you may end up. It’s a homage to the classic Hollywood stories of two young people running away together, the kind of thing we see in films like ‘True Romance’. It is a pulsating 80s night drive song and an introduction to our world.

Catch Graces live tonight (April 7) at Nambucca in London w/ BLESS, The Assist, Slumdogs, The Velvet Hands. And on April 27 at the Foundry, Sheffield Students' Union, Sheffield
