Track Of The Day :: Wild Front - Make You Feel

Words: Linn Branson

Really don't know what this Wild Front bunch are on about saying here on latest single 'Make You Feel', that they "didn't even make you feel..." What? What! This song, m'laddos, I will have you know made me feel loads! It is just adorably, wonderfully, addictively, superbly, buzzingly, blissfully supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Oh, and it's a bit good too!

The Southampton-based foursome - Andy-Joe Connell, Josh Betteridge, Jack Williams, Mike Flowers - have pulled out all the stops on this indie-pop belter, which was co-written with The Holloways' Alfie Jackson.

After releasing their debut EP 'Physics' last September, they have really gone all out this year with a May released single 'Simmer Down', followed by 'Dive' (featured on Made In Chelsea this week) in July, and a raft of festival appearances this year including The Great Escape, British Summer Time, Isle of Wight, Reading/Leeds, and upcoming Neighbourhood Festival.

'Make You Feel' - undoubtedly their best song to date - immediately feels like a familiar old friend, with its catchy, singalong lyrics and big, swooning chorus partnered with The 1975-esque guitar riffs. There's a little similarity to Sea Girls about Wild Front - no bad thing at all in our book - and trade that same quality of shimmering sound with a hint of sprinkled synth.

Lyrically, the band describe ‘Make You Feel’ as a song that "deals with the issues faced in relationships in times where you unintentionally shut people off because of your own personal issues. Sometimes you have a lot to work on in your own life, and it can be so easy to neglect the people closest to you, and it can often feel like in those moments that you are not ready for a relationship. It’s the moment you recognise the way you’ve treated the person you’re with. The song is a cry from a place of guilt and insecurity."

You'll want to listen to this more than once, possibly on repeat into double figures. Be warned.
