Watch :: Crewel Intentions - Cruel Intentions

Words: Ellie Ward

After sharing their maiden track ‘Youth In Overload’ last month, Crewel Intentions, the band formed by ex-Palma Violets frontman Chilli Jesson, now drop their follow up, ‘Cruel Intentions’.

Like its predecessor, the chamber-pop track comes with a cinematic video, directed by Jak Payne.

“I had these recurring thoughts of two gun slingers, turning and firing at one another but both were me, I could either be dropped by my own bullet or move on," says Jesson about the track. “The tune ‘Cruel Intentions’, more simply put, is about confronting fears rather than drowning in them. So at the start of the tune I wanted this feeling of isolation as I felt alone at the time of writing it.

"Leaving a band is like what leaving a long term relationship must feel like you’ve spent years with people you love and then wake up alone. It’s scary. But as the tune builds it becomes more embracing there’s life beyond, adventures ahead, it’s a kind of realisation of finding yourself and as it says within it: ‘I’m alive.’ The gunslingers have turned and walked away.”

Crewel Intentions are on tour with Johnny Marr through November, before they play their own headline show at London’s Electrowerkz on the 21st.
