Released this Friday (May 10), Newcastle alt-rockers The Strands follow up their recent 'Combine' with rollicking new single 'Don't Go Away'.

Premiered here by Little Indie, the sub-three minute track cuts along at a pace, helmed by Dean Herron's distinctive dipped-in-whisky-and-cigarettes vocal, as he worries that, "I’m afraid that I’m not the one / That you said, that you’d hoped for".

“It’s about a break up," says Dean, who also wrote the song. "The story of a relationship that has relinquished in result of the innumerable arguments. The two people are still cemented and don’t want it that way though.”

Catch The Strands live on July 26 for their first headline show at Riverside 2 in Newcastle. Before that they will also play Newcastle's This Is Tomorrow festival over the late May bank holiday weekend of 24th - 26th.

The Strands are: Dean Herron - vocals, rhythm guitar; Peter Kinmond - bass; Kyle McCallum - lead guitar; Joe Cooper - drums.
