Track Of The Day :: Jarod Lawley makes his debut with 'Gordon's Gin' (it's a song - not the brand!)

Another one for our occasional 'If Old Grey Whistle Test were still on they'd love this vid' series.

We don't know if Jarod Lawler is an imbiber of the spirit of the title here, 'Gordon's Gin', but we poured one with a dash of tonic and slice of lemon to get in the mood while easing back for a watch/listen.

Coming armed with just an electric guitar, rich baritone, and model looks, this debut single from the 21-year-old Londoner makes for a good start.

"Musically, imagine if Lana Del Rey and Alex Turner had a baby; visually the video is full of clips from old movies and vintage Americana," is the man's take on the slow, brooding song "about a brother and sister who go dancing together, and worrying about crossing the lines."

An interesting first release.

Catch Jarod live on May 16 at Roadtrip & The Workshop on London's Old Street.
