Listen :: Tennis System - Turn
Words: Sam Geary
Los Angeles-based Tennis System have dropped a new track from their forthcoming album ‘Lovesick’, which is set for release on August 2 via Graveface Records.
Recorded by producer/engineer, Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Gouge Away), ‘Turn’ channels the trio's shoegaze soundscapes and punk-esque veneer, with a bunch of fuzzed-up riffs.
Vocalist and guitarist Matty Taylor says that the song is about “acknowledging a sense of emptiness when something that once brought you joy brings nothing but pain. It’s literally the turning point, where you realize that what you love is hurting you more than helping you. This is the first song we wrote after ‘P A I N’, and was a literal turning point for the band in terms of creative output, and general positivity and really kickstarted the direction/tone of ‘Lovesick’.”
