Track Of The Day :: The Ivy - Give Me A Try
Words: Linn Branson
Have to admit going straight from email to video without reading anything about The Ivy, except their asking to 'Give Me A Try'. Well, why not I thought?
Several things stuck out on rolling this visual. Firstly, I couldn't help warmly grinning over the tea-cosy hat worn by singer Wyatt Clem, then there's the slacker skateboarding, and the easy-going coolness. The three look like they'll be on the radar of quite a few young female fans, as well!
I was rather surprised on digging deeper to find they are not Australian, as I was rather expecting, but in fact hail from Oklahoma in the good ol' US of A. And rummaging further it transpires the indie synth-pop trio - Clem, Shawn Abhari and Zack Siddiqui - are multi-million-stream-ers, with previous singles having attained over 6 million streams on Spotify alone. Who knew? Not me, obviously (sorry, chaps).
'Give Me A Try’, released today (October 25) is the first song the band has written with co-writers, and hones 80s synth-pop effects with a fresh 00s groove. I must say, it is rather addictive. I watched the video, below, quite a few times - just for research, of course! Give it a try.
