If you don't know their name yet, you will soon as Estates, a new indie-pop three-piece from Manchester, make their debut with 'Know Your Name'.
Out now via Someone Great/PIAS, the band - who describe themselves as playing "nostalgic indie with big choruses, jangly guitars and lots of cheese" - bring a light, uplifting vibe to their first outing. Brief drum and guitar passages throughout play a nice adjunct to Mark Bowman's sleek vocal, and the twinkling melodies and chorus which are darned catchy and guaranteed to have you singing along.
“’Know Your Name’ touches on the perception of youth and innocence," say the band (Bowman, Rory McColgan and Ben Richardson), "reminiscing about those people you walk past and never see again, focusing on missed opportunities and wondering ‘what if?’"
Catch Estates live on November 20 for a free entry show at Night People in Manchester (w/ Kieran Dobson, Rosa, Ruin Christmas).
