Track Of The Day :: Youth Sector - Tonight

For their new single, Brighton art-rockers Youth Sector have collaborated with producer Theo Verney (FUR, Egyptian Blue) for a taste of further new material coming early next year.

‘Tonight’ sees the quintet hone their 80s influences with a darker, more sombre approach compared to previous single from early summer, ‘Renting Spaces In My World’. But armed with hypnotic and punchy beats, strident synths and a hard-to-resist melody, 'Tonight' is definitely alright and paves the way for big things in 2020.

“This song aims to shed a light on the contagious quality of apathy in society, and how we favour small distractions in order to avoid confronting some of our toughest challenges," explains singer and guitarist Nick Tompkins. "We’re seeing this constantly in the way the world deals with the climate crisis, where it only seems to be an urgent issue to those willing to make sacrifices while others are happy living in denial."
