Best new tracks Down Under #3

With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.

VLOSSOM - TABS

Following last year's debut single 'Catch Your Breath, Sydney-based Vlossom - Nick Littlemore (of Empire of the Sun, PNAU) and Alister Wright (frontman of Cloud Control) - drop a new cut off their upcoming EP. The propulsive beat augments a funky groove. “'Tabs' is about the human relationship with time and the ticking clocks of consciousness," explains Littlemore. "Ride this song like a rocket ship into a kaleidoscopic world, take this journey from star to asteroid and beyond, come try the friendly skies...you are all invited.”

VENICE QUEENS - PUNCHDRUNK

The Adelaide five-piece kick off January with this new single. Building on lush melodies and engaging vocals, it oozes a laid-back American Wesr Coast 70s rock vibe. “We’re so excited to share ‘Punchdrunk’ with the world. It’s been a long time coming and it’s one we really felt we couldn’t rush." Catch live on January 25 at The Bearded Lady Brisbane, and 26th at Sol Bar, Maroochydore supporting Bootleg Rascal.

KINGSWOOD - BITTERSWEET

The Melbourne four-piece release latest single ahead of their third album 'Juveniles', out March 13. “‘Bittersweet’ was originally inspired by the love story of one of our dearest friends," explains frontman Fergus Linacre. "Without going into detail, a medical issue put a question mark over their future, but without blinking they forged on together, overcome with love and companionship. The opening line, ‘There’s no love on this earth that isn’t bittersweet’, is a truth that we should all remember as we paddle through the waves.” On tour from March, see Facebook for dates.

OLY SHERMAN - MADNESS

Rising Sydney singer-songwriter Oly Sherman returns after last August's EP, 'Three Oh Three', with a new evocative, introspective single, released last week. “‘Madness' is probably one of my most comforting songs," he says. On tour from February, see Facebook for dates.
