Listen :: Working Men's Club - White Rooms And People
Words: Sam Geary
Working Men's Club have dropped their first single of the year, 'White Rooms And People', which was premiered by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1.
With Rob Graham and Mairead O’Connor now joining Sydney Minsky-Sargeant in the line-up, the band exude a punk-funk groove, with Minsky-Sargeant's coolly dispassionate vocal delivery balanced against clipped guitars and icy synths on the song, produced by Ross Orton, that is about finding positivity in dark times.
“People have an important role to play,” says singer Minsky-Sargeant. “Creative power is incredibly important in these times, whether it’s to soothe people’s pain, distract them or address how fucked up the world is right now.
“There are things we have to accept but there are also things we can do; the power has always been there so it’s about time we used it again.”
