Scottish artist Craig Irving hails from Iverness, about as far as you can go north without reaching more islands. It may account for why his name has not previously filtered down to England and into my ears!
His new single, 'Say Goodbye', came out last week, and its indie-pop-rock vibe that spreads tentacles LANY/Bruce Springsteen territory, he may describe as a "breakup song", but it's a boppy little beast that feels light and catchy, with its uplifting guitars and synth accompaniment and one for which you just want to grab a partner for a spin on the dancefloor.
The track is the first to come from his debut EP 'When I First Met You', due out on April 3.
