Au Palais Return With 'Thrones'
Brother and sister duo, David Commathe and Elise Commathe, aka Au Palais, return with a new self-released track, 'Thrones, a wistful and arresting piece of pop architecture with deep alabaster vocals along its rigid edges and curves. In keeping with Au Palais' ethereal and expressive style, expanding the band's intelligent noir pop.
'Thrones' is about the things people will do and the places they will allow themselves to be taken for the person they love, even if those things are harmful, and those places dark. It's ultimately a song about love and desire, told through a story of how passion can fold in on itself and become obsessive and consuming. "We wanted to talk about those feelings in almost classical terms, with imagery of ancient conquests and dark ritual".
