Released at the end of last month, 'Dead Inside' is the latest single from Sydney quartet The Art.
The track - written by the band: Azaria Byrne (vocals/guitar), Kara Jayne (bass/vocals), Jordan McDonald (drums), Natalie Connolly, (guitar) - is a work that evolved out of the endless round of touring, the highs and lows of life on the road, and then the comedian of trying to settle back in the home routine when it's over. The chorus lyrics, "you're standing at the edge/but you can't jump or walk away", paints the picture of standing at the edge of The Gap in Sydney, not wanting to end it all, yet not being able to walk away, the band say.
Dark, as its title implies, 'Dead Inside' fuses The Art's punk and classic rock sensibilities. It was recorded and produced by Stevie Knight at Electro Sun Studios in Sydney, while the film clip was made by Sydney filmmaker and videographer Oliver Heath.
