October 9 2015 - Hot Top Ten

BEACH BABY - LIMOUSINE
New single from London's steadily rising Babies released on November 16 via Handsome Dad. Standout synths and deep bass grooves roll along at a pace. Catch them tonight (October 9) at the Norwich Sound & Vision Festival.

LIME CORDIALE - NOT THAT EASY
Sydney five-piece share the blue-eyed funk-rock electronics of lead single released this week from their upcoming third EP 'Road To Paradise'.

CAPE CUB - KEEP ME IN MIND
New emotively compelling track from Newcastle artist Chad Male, who combines minimal arrangements with yearning vocals. This melancholic follow-up to 'Swim' and 'Lantern', he says, is about "that feeling when home seems a million miles away, and despite the wonders of technology, the ones that are closest to you feel out of reach. There’s definitely a fear in the unknown, and that’s kind of what this song is all about."

BEACH SLANG - ANYTHING, ANYTHING
Philly punks continue to churn out at an alarming rate some of the best sounds to be heard. This Dramarama cover appears on Volume I of their mixtape collection, "Here, I Made This For You", out October 17 for Cassette Store Day, on Polyvinyl Records (North America) - preceding their debut LP 'The Things We Do To Find People Like Us' out October 30.

VIOLENT SOHO - LIKE SODA
Raucous new digital release single - out today - from the Brisbane band, taken from their fourth album (to be released via I OH YOU), the follow-up to 2013's 'Hungry Ghost'. Frontman Luke Boerdam on the track: "I know lyrically when I wrote it, it just kind had this weird afternoon sunshine vibe. I kind of get pictures of empty RSL clubs with pokey rooms..."

KARELIAN SURNAMES - 75
The unusually named Madrid-based dreampop Irish/Spanish duo (Natalia Cooper and Carlos Ruiz), taken from their debut EP; the lyrics to which were written in Dublin last year, they tell us, hence "we called it 75 because of 1975, a year when things started to change in Spain".

THE VERIGOLDS - CROSSFIRE
San Diego psych-rockers' new single released last week, shows the four-piece, led by vocalist Jenna Cotton, delivering a five-minute experimental sonic soundscape helmed by Cotton's trippy vocal.

CONNER YOUNGBLOOD - DIAMONDS
From his self-produced EP 'The Generation Of Lift', out today, October 9. The 24-year-old Texan, now based in Nashville, delivers more of his exquisitely crafted, "bedroom pop" in this gem of a sparkling and crisply produced track that winds elegantly around sharp percussion and synth layers.

SVELTE - TIME (PUT IT ALL TOGETHER)
Bristol electronic duo (Mary Spender and Jacob Bright) continue with their 'one new track a month' project - culminating in an album in July 2016 - with this October offering of a chilled melodic groove variety, encased with glitchy electro textures.

GLASS GIANTS - UP ALL NIGHT
The Welsh pop rockers share vibrant melodies and high vocals in this new single, out November 13. Produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For A Friend), it follows the Cardiff outfit's debut EP 'Cocktails & Bikinis'.
