November 13 2015 - Hot Top Ten

CHARLIE HILTON - PONY

Frontwoman with Portland's Blouse marks her solo venture with this debut single of washed out, hazy guitars, rippling synths/keyboards and vocal loops, taken from the album 'Palana' (released January 22 2016 via Captured Tracks), produced by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Jacob Portrait).

THE DELICATES - CHIMERA

Formed last year, the six-man strong Australian Gold Coast lo-fi dreaming surf-poppers bring some more summer shimmer jangle vibes to this new track.

OVERDAWN - COMMUNICATE

A new track from the Bristolian musician/producer (which is also available as a free download), and which follows his 'Down Prt 1' and remix of Lana Del Rey's 'Honeymoon' back in late summer.

ST. TROPEZ - SON OF GOD

Out November 13, the new single from the Dutch garage punk contingent, whom Little Indie did tell you all about some time ago, so we hope you were paying attention (if you weren't, click here). This latest track, again has Spring King’s Tarek Musa involved - this time on mixing duties - and is about "self-sufficiency in a context of faith and asceticism, stating we have to save ourselves instead of seeking salvation in religion."

ACTIVE BIRD COMMUNITY - I'VE BEEN GOING SWIMMING

Swooning title track from the ambient psych rock New York City foursome's full-length released at the end of last month. A bit of a grower, this.

MOON TOURISTS - WAIT

Released this week, the new single follow-up to their April self-titled debut EP from the Kent electronic outfit. As vocalist Bronte sings, "I need a fortune teller/To calm my doubts," it's likely a psychic would be seeing very promising things in their crystal ball for this three-piece next year.

LIINES - NEVER THERE

"Channelling their inner Sleater-Kinney," to quote Radio X's John Kennedy, the Manchester post-punk female trio (Zoe McVeigh, vocals/ guitar; Steph Angel, bass; Leila O’Sullivan, drums) who formed last year, mark this debut single, out November 23, with a Night & Day Cafe launch show on 21st.

MAUDLIN STRANGERS - SUNNY DAY RAIN

After debut EP 'Overdose' earlier this year, and our Track Of The Day last month with 'Gingerale', multi-instrumentalist Jake Hays now brings another dark pop, self-produced bedroom recording to the turntable.

THE UGLY CLUB - COCOON

New single from NYC/New Jersey psych-rock four-piece, produced by Abe Seiferth (RAC, Yeasayer, Bear In Heaven), the follow-up to 'The Lonely' from earlier in year. With its free-flowing structure and a purely instrumental last minute-and-a-half, it superbly melds electronic elements with organic sounds.

POLISH CLUB - BEEPING

Two-man outfit Sydney (vocalist/guitarist Novak and drummer John-Henry), who, together, sound like Detroit soul boyz, playing blues-upped rock n roll noise exemplified by their Facebook description of "[writing] pop songs fifty years late and twice the speed." Barely exceeding three minutes, 'Beeping' is the fourth track (after 'Did Somebody Tell Me', 'Able' and 'Show You Love') they have put out this year, and which appears on their self-titled debut EP out on December 11.
