Track Of The Day :: Embers - The Bitten Tongue

Words: Linn Branson

It was back in the autumn of 2011 that Manchester's Embers guest caught our attention with early demo 'Days Turn Into Weeks'. Fast forward to 2012 and the four-piece were releasing their debut double A side single 'Sins Unknown' / 'Tunnel Vision', followed just prior to Christmas the same year with the epic seven-minute gem 'Hollow Cage' - that apart from managing to send shivers down the spine, almost practically crashed Twitter when it was unveiled.

But aside from festival dates like The Great Escape in 2013 and the release of follow-up single 'Part Of The Echoes', things have been pretty quiet on the Embers front.

But all is now set to change as they rise again after having put efforts into working on new material - the first of which can be sampled here. 'The Bitten Tongue', revealed yesterday, is a four-minute guitar-led work of darkly building sonics that intensely work their way into your head. Big, stirring and affecting - welcome back, Embers.
