There may not be a lot to go on yet (in fact - nothing) but ex-Tribes frontman Johnny Lloyd has a new band together, and it looks like they will be making their presence known early in 2016.
In a posting on SON's Facebook page is a 14 second snippet of ghostly music over a very brief black and white video footage of palm trees and the band's support tour dates in January/February next year with The Maccabees and Mystery Jets.
Newcastle-born, Midlands-raised, now London-based Lloyd first tweeted on Twitter back on November 12 that he had plans afoot:
"@JohnnyLloydUK: Some exciting announcements next month. Can't wait for you to hear what I've been working on #themaccabees #jamiet https://t.co/TEuwnA8rZ6" - and now we know...well, sort of.
Since Tribes' split in late 2013, Lloyd has concentrated on being a solo artist, releasing the ‘Pilgrims’ EP (produced by Mystery Jets' Blaine Harrison) the following year. No further information on the SON (whose line-up includes former Tribes drummer Miguel Demelo) quartet's recording plans have yet been announced, but no doubt we will be hearing more very soon.
SON support The Maccabees in Europe/UK from January 18 - February 6, then Mystery Jets, February 11 - 20 in UK/Ireland. See full dates on poster above.
