THE BELL WEATHERS - SECRETS

FLOWERS - PULL MY ARM
Hazy melodic pop from the London trio fronted by the seering vocals of Rachel Kenedy. This new single is from their second album, 'Everybody's Dying To Meet You', produced by Brian O’Shaugnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine) and released on February 12 2016 via Fortuna Pop!/Kanine Records. Star rating: ***.5/5

ALOHAHA - NAUSEA
The LA project return with new single 'Welcome To Your New Life' (out yesterday via Black Rainbow Records) with this B-side. A slow-burner that layers wistful guitars with tranquil yet forlorn vocals from frontman/producer Jake Sinclair - with Morgan Kibby of White Sea. Star rating: ***/5

SODA BOYZ - DAS DREAMLAND
Noise-punk high school teens hailing from Palmerston North, New Zealand. Two track release (w/the instrumental 'Fader), worn this A side of thrashing chords, crashing drums, raw, screeched vocals that then give way to an instrumental mellow groove end. Star rating: ****/4

PSYCHOBABY - BABY
Feisty Brooklyn four-piece alt-rock outfit with the first single - released December 8 - from their 2016 arriving EP 'Rough Start', which they describe as "the story of a creature as it explores its strange world. Led from its deserted hilltop to a rocky canyon by the mysterious twine people, the creature discovers Mother, their captive." Star rating: ***/5

PEOPLE FLAVOR - WORDS
New single from the 80s/90s rock-inspired LA quartet (formerly known as The Gloss), and set to appear on their debut album of same name out in February 2016. Self-styled as "glam garage-rock", they drive melodic rhythms against Star rating: ***/5
