A touch of Finnish dreampop sounds just about the right antidote to all the festive slush around at the moment, and Helsinki five-piece Cina Polada's new single ‘Face 2 Face’ (released last Friday, December 18), is the perfect choice.
Originally starting out as the solo project of Hilla Miettinen, her music soon started gaining attention after uploading two tracks to Bandcamp, and the now five-piece (husband and wife Hilla and Tatu Miettinen, Tatu’s younger brother Teemu, plus friends Tony Salo and Nita Mattila) create an easy, swooning warmth on ‘Face 2 Face’, that oozes lilting guitar lines and soft synths along with Hilla’s sweet floating vocals overlaid.
