Watch :: Eagles Of Death Metal Join U2 On Stage In Paris

Words: Linn Branson

After it had been rumoured that Eagles Of Death Metal would perform with U2 in Paris last night (December 6) at the AccorHotels Arena, then subsequently denied by U2, it still left a lot open to speculation given that they had only issued a statement that EODM would not be joining them Sunday night, leaving a question-mark over the Irish behemoths' Monday night show.

With an un-named source saying they would join U2 onstage for the encore, tonight, at the same venue in the French capital, after an introduction by Stephen Hawking, U2 embarked on 'City Of Blinding Lights', the encore song they have used on all but two shows of their present tour.

Earlier, the band had displayed the French tricolour with the names of all those who lost their lives last month.

With mounting expectation, U2 frontman Bono then announced: "They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight," as he hugged the band's vocalist Jesse Hughes.

In what was to prove an emotional encore in remembrance of the events of the night of November 13, U2 invited Eagles Of Death to close the night. Taking the mic, Hughes vowed: "Paris we love you and we will never give up rock and roll," before going into 'I Love You All The Time'.
