Listen :: Mountainjam offer 7-minute epic 'Waiting'

Words: Ellie Ward

Released yesterday, February 15, the rather epic new single from Mountainjam. And they're not kidding when they say they "have a bit of a habit of making long players!" for the mighty 'Waiting' stretches out at all of seven-minutes-plus.

The four-piece alt-rockers from various towns in and around the Midlands - Leics -Staffs areas, formed a year ago, releasing their debut self-titled EP in September, followed by two singles so far this year - including the six-minuter 'Lemon And Lime'.

'Waiting', opens on 90s influenced rhythmic guitar riffs, and powered by Dean Dovey's big rocky vocals that alternate with more softer moments. There's lots of guitar in here - and some of those rock solos not too often heard in today's three-minute affairs - and an unexpected brass fade-out.

Mountainjam are: Dean Dovey - vocals, rhythm guitar, organ; Andy Varden - lead guitar, organ; Nick Roberts - bass; Pez - drums, organ
