Track Of The Day :: Gabriel Bruce - Metal Soul
Words: Sam Geary
London-based Gabriel Bruce has unveiled the first single from his forthcoming second album, 'Come All Sufferers', which will be released later this year.
The first work since his 2013 debut LP, 'Love In Arms', which saw him draw comparisons to Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen, lead single 'Metal Soul' shows the influence of both the aforementioned artists in its style and composition, with Bruce's deep, melancholic voice evoking the tortured balladeer and storyteller. It is dark and gives a hint of what is to come on the second album, a record written during the last years of personal turmoil for Bruce with break-ups and a hand injury.
'Metal Soul', co-produced by Dan Carey and Bruce, is out now.
Gabriel Bruce will play the following live dates, with more to follow:
April
21 Brixton Windmill, London
July
02 BST Hyde Park (Florence + the Machine support), London
