Track Of The Day :: Pumarosa - Cecile

Words: Linn Branson

It's still only their second single, but London-based Pumarosa are marking themselves out as something very impressive even in these still relatively early days of their career.

After winning praise all round with last year's debut 'Priestess', the five-piece now come back with 'Cecile', released yesterday via Chess Club/Mom + Pop, which looks set to equal - if not surpass - their first offering.

Produced once again by Dan Carey, 'Cecile' is a sharp, punchy groove of propulsive indie right from its frenetic opening, into a Talking Heads-inspired, psych-driven four-minute cacophony of pummelling beats and Isabel Munoz-Newsome’s simply divine vocals oozing sweetness.

Following their recent appearance at SXSW, the band will headline London's ICA on May 7, and have been confirmed for a number of festivals including The Great Escape, Live at Leeds and Visions. Prior to which they will also open for The Vaccines and Everything Everything at London's Royal Albert Hall on April 20 as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust bill.
