April 1 2016 - Hot Top Ten

LUH - BENEATH THE CONCRETE
Former WU LYF's Ellery Roberts and Ebony Hoorn are the LUH (Lost Under Heaven) duo who precede forthcoming Haxan Cloak-produced debut album 'Spiritual Songs For Lovers To Sing' album (out May 6 via Mute) with this noisy hooky anthem, with big crescendos of horns and drums, and Roberts' scratchy vocals soaring over the top.

GLASS GANG - OUTSIDE YOUR LOVE
The propulsive vocals here really make this electronic dance-pop track, produced by Sonny Diperri (Animal Collective, Warpaint, M83), from the Brooklyn quartet, their first single in nearly 18 months, go off on a blast.

THE VIRGINMARYS - MOTHS TO A FLAME
The Macclesfield outfit debuted this new track yesterday, a dark piece "written about struggles through mental health and addiction and how we must stick together and be there for each other," says bassist Matt Rose. Taken from their upcoming second album 'Divides', out May 6 via Wind-up Records.

BLACK HONEY - ALL MY PRIDE
Out this week, the new single from the Brighton outfit, taken from upcoming EP 'Headspin', out April 29 they Foxfive Records. Hooky urgency, vibrant melody and Izzy B Phillips' searing vocal. Catch live on April 9 at Flying Vinyl Festival, London.

SKIES - SPEED BOY
Our favourite Adelaide outfit, a Little Indie Track Of The Day last summer with 'Too Young', they have now released this new pop electronica single last week. Produced by Steven Schram (San Cisco, The Cat Empire, Paul Kelly), it is filled with punchy drums, catchy synth grooves and Dusty Stephenson's captivating vocals.

MATT CROSS - DEDICATED MEDICATED FOOL
Latest of a handful of songs posted to Soundcloud over the last seven months (and a taster of a planned debut EP this summer) by 20-year-old Essex singer/songwriter. Taking inspiration from 70s glam rock and more recent guitar/synth lead melodies and slapback delay vocal effects.

FOLLIN - MEMORIES
Follow up to debut 'Roxy' from sibling duo Madeline and Richie James Follin, digitally released last week. Gauzy synths and a heavier atmosphere compared to the breezy pop-rock of 'Roxy'.

HOLY FUCK - XED EYES
The Toronto experimental noise quartet follow 'Tom Tom', the lead single from their new album 'Congrats', out May 27 via Innovative Leisure, with this second single of chugging psych dance-rock.

ANNA OF THE NORTH - BABY
Swooning, synthy new single from breathy-vocalled Oslo-based Anna Lotterud. On tour now with Kygo in Europe, catch live tonight (April 1) at Esch Alzette, Rockhal, Germany. UK dates from April 20.

POLISH CLUB - MY HOUSE
The Sydney duo (vocalist/guitarist Novak and drummer John-Henry) who together sound like Detroit soul boyz playing blues-upped rock n roll noise, exert some retro vibes here on the follow up to the irrepressible 'Beeping' of late last year.
