San Francisco's Nyre are a 'psych-inspired rock' three-piece who have been friends since pre-school and in high school started making music together.
All of Armenian descent - vocalist Tigran being born there, while the other two are native 'Cisco kids of Armenian parentage - and influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Tame Impala, and The Kills, they put out their debut two-track 'EP' (we'd opt for that being an AA single rather than EP!) featuring 'Policia' and 'Myowndiva' in early 2014.
Along with bassist Sevag 'Sevvy' Makasdjian putting out a solo album, 'Keep Looking', last month, the band as a unit have also released a new self-titled EP on June 23.
Now it's a curious thing, but the material on this EP sounds totally unlike some more recent tracks Nyre have put up online in the last weeks such as 'Tin' and 'Wildflower', so Little Indie put this to Sevvy.
The 'new stuff' he refers to relates to these cuts which will appear on a further EP coming out in August. You can stream 'Tin' and 'Wallflower' above. And if you want to compare with their previous sound, here's a taster from the last EP, 'Dead', followed by that first single track, 'Myowndiva'.
Nyre are: Tigran Gevondyan (vocals, lead guitar), Sevag Makasdjian (bass, backing vocals), Kevork Demirjian (drums).
