RATHBORNE - YOU LET ME IN
Delicate, heartfelt ballad emotively expressed, dedicated to New York City, by the Maine-raised singer-songwriter who now calls the Big Apple home. Speaking of the track, Luke Rathborne said: “This song came out of a dark period of time of coming out of a break up - and was something that helped me get through. Reasoning for myself.” Star rating: 3/5
HEAVY HEART - HIGH DIVE
Releasing a song a month in 2016, this is the latest of 12 from the London five-piece. Glittering layers of Anna Vincent's vocals are accompanied by airy percussion and washed-out guitars, as they want you to, “Dive in with me/swim so deep.” Star rating: 3/5
HOCKEY DAD - JUMP THE GUN
The Windang, Australia duo -Zach Stephenson (guitar/vocals) and Billy Fleming (drums/vocals) - blend surf-inspired jangly rock with indie-pop-rock elements and infectious hooks on this new offering from their upcoming debut album, 'Boronia', which arrives August 12 via Kanine Records. YASSASSIN - SOCIAL POLITICS
Edgy, riot grrl rockin' debut from London's female five-piece (featuring former members of The History of Apple Pie and LUST). Produced by Dave Allen (The Cure, Neneh Cherry, Depeche Mode), and mixed by Margo Broom (Fat White Family, Telegram) it is available as a limited free download before digital release via Enate Records this month. WOLF CLUB - WHEREVER THE WILD
Title track and lead single of the Nottingham-based synthpop outfit's (as featured on Hollyoaks) debut album due early next year. Lyrically "reliving a drive home from a gig, getting lost and talking drunk", it's a punchy, foot-tapping electro three minutes. Star rating: 3.5/5
