Track Of The Day :: John Jefferson - Fool's Paradise
Words: LB
By rights, singer/songwriter John Jefferson probably shouldn't be hanging out on the banks of London's Thames, but wearing a large Stetson and singing his brand of Americana somewhere 'out West' in the US of A.
After playing in various psychedelic/indie bands over the past eight years, Jefferson has now ventured out on a solo path with his debut EP 'Helmsman' - released at the beginning of July - from which this little gem, 'Fool's Paradise', comes.
The EP's five songs were all written on a narrow boat in the English countryside over the course of last summer and recorded in Lightship95, the floating studio moored in East London. Which may account for the easy, languid country blues feel of 'Fool's Paradise' that touches on influences like Townes Van Zandt.
