Watch :: 1975 - Somebody Else

Words: LB

Whether you're a fan of The 1975 may well influence how you view this new video for 'Somebody Else', taken from their preposterously titled recent album, 'I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it'.

If you are, you will no doubt appreciate seeing the naked multi-tattoo'd upper torso of that Mr Healy which features in the long, black and white opening three minute silent sequence - bar some canned laughter - where we see frontman Matt getting dressed to go out, as his other, non-moving self sits on a bench. It then moves into a skateboarding scene (looking like that section was shot on the iconic Alexandra Road council estate in London's Swiss Cottage, if we're not mistaken), some rough times and a visit to a lapdancing club, as he struggles with self-obsession and heartbreak.

We won't spoil the end, as both chill-out song and visuals are worth spending time with, but the twist is one that has been seen more than once. The video was apparently scripted by Matty, so we probably know he's seen some of the same videos himself.

And if you need to see the man in the flesh, well The 1975 have announced details of UK arena tour in December, as follows:

15 London, The O2
