Throughout the ages Sheffield has thrown up some musical gems: Pulp, Joe Cocker, Def Leppard, Arctic Monkeys, Human League, Reverend and the Makers and Richard Hawley, to name but a few. So welcome to SHEAFS who create a fast and frenetic indie sound, and who could well be added to the impressive list of steel city luminaries in years to come.
The five-piece formed at the back end of 2015 and in a short space of time the band have quickly gained a reputation as a lively and exciting live act, regularly selling out venues around the Sheffield area, supporting the likes of Pretty Vicious, Hidden Charms, and The Vryll Society - not to mention drawing the accolade of being described as a “punk Babyshambles live” by BBC Introducing Sheffield.
Their first outing, ‘Anticipation, No Consolation’, gained them airplay on BBC Radio Sheffield and even, before standalone single in March, 'Punchline', showcased a band with confidence and potential. Their debut EP 'Nobody's Watching', which was recorded with Alan Smyth at 2Fly Studios and is released on November 25, looks certain to carry them to further recognition.
SHEAFS play Sheffield’s Rocking Chair for This Feeling tonight (November 19) with Fronteers, The Blinders and The Harringtons. They also play Sheffield's Leadmill on December 16.
SHEAFS are: Lawrence Feenstra (lead vocals), Chris Goodacre (guitar, backing vocals), Callum Wright (bass), Charles Mellor (guitar), Charlie Eastap (drums).
