10 Aussie artists to watch out for in 2017

Words: Linn Branson

It's unlikely that Australia will cease continuing to impress with an ever-growing wealth of new talent in 2017, and Little Indie can't wait to hear what they have coming over the ocean for us. If the next 12 months are as good as the last, it will be a ripper of a year.

As a final close out on 2016, we round up ten artists who released product in the last months of the year - and are good bets to listen out for in 2017.

DOONA WAVES - RESTLESS
From the seven-track debut EP 'Come Around' released December 22 of catchy guitar hooks and breezy feel by Melbourne alt-indie five-piece.

BERLIN BAR HOUNDS - RAPPORT
Former Jinja Safari drummer Jacob Borg unveils this new track from his solo project. Only the third release from the New South Wales artist in two years, it's a low-key number taking in skittering drum loops over vocal layers reminiscent of The National.

MATT BLACK - BERETTA
Following his impressive 'Moving On' R&B debut and 'Riot' from earlier this year, the Sydney-based singer returns with this seductive, sub four-minute future soul track.

MOSQUITO COAST - TELEVISION LOVE
Flowing psych pop title track from Perth duo's - Naomi, vocals, guitar, keys, bass; Conor, drums, keys, tambourine - just released debut EP.

MOLLY MILLINGTON - COOL LIKE
YOU
Catchy title track from the 16-year-old New South Wales-based singer-songwriter's debut five-track EP released at the beginning of December via Moldy Records, with a young pop/country twist. A name to keep an eye on.

ENDLESS HEIGHTS - PRAY I FADE
Sydney outfit meld a raft of big riffs and soaring choruses on this side of a two-track EP of the same name released earlier in the month via Cooking Vinyl, the follow-up to 2015 EP, 'Teach You How To Leave'.

HEAPS GOOD FRIENDS - LET'S HUG LONGER
Skittery new track from dreamy dance-pop friends, Adelaide duo Nick O'Connor and Emma Fradd, delivering a heaps good infectious three minute song.

THE INNOCENCE - LEST WE REGRET
Melbourne alt-rock trio lend a pop-punk touch to this track from their 'Ignorance Is Bliss' EP, released just prior to Christmas.

FAUX BANDIT - KILL THE COMEDOWN BUG
Brisbane rock duo come up with a full on taste of second EP 'Flex', expected in 2017. Gritty, hard-hitting choruses, reverbed guitar and chunky drums, they display all the power of a four-piece.

CHITRA - FADE
Rising teen Chitra Ridwan released her debut four-track EP 'Cold Love' in November, from which this song comes. Simple, effective acoustic alt-folk with engaging vocals from the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter.
