** PREMIERE ** SLEEPTAPE - Glass Ceiling

Words: Ellie Ward

Newcastle's SLEEPTAPE are a newly formed alt rock/indie band who take their large ambient lead tones, and blend with strong grooves and pop-rock vocals.

Influenced by bands such as Foals, Royal Blood and Lower Than Atlantis, after forming only at the start of 2017, they have wasted no time in getting down to writing and recording, and Little Indie is pleased to premiere the quartet's new second single 'Glass Ceiling', which is out this Friday (July 21).

"We wanted to create a song for people to move too," says the band's bass player Elliot Johnson, of their follow-up to 'Nadir', their debut May release (featured on BBC Introducing North East). "The song combines heavy guitar riffs with light, groovy melodies."

Which sounds good to us. At under two and a half minutes, 'Glass Ceiling' belts along as you might expect, and the 'heavy guitar riffs' come thick and fast, as do the pelting drums. For a band called SLEEPTAPE, this is not a track you'll be in danger of falling asleep to

SLEEPTAPE play a single release show at The Cluny, Newcastle on July 21.

SLEEPTAPE are: Jonny Lott - (vocals/rhythm guitar), Luke Rogers - (lead guitar), Elliot Johnson - (bass), Daniel Butterworth - (drums).
