Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.
LIME CORDIALE - TEMPER TEMPER
Lead cut from the upcoming album by the Sydney rocker duo. The brothers, Oliver and Louis Leimbach, deliver some cool vocals over a pretty funky, uptempo melody, as the line is: “I only like you when you’re leaving / I only love you when you’re gone.” You'll want to hear this more than once.
YOGHURT JONES - ELEVATED SO AND SOs
The Sydney trio take a delightful, somewhat experimental approach here, on this follow-up to July's 'Seashells', with vocal layering over an electronic base that makes its two and a half minutes way too short. More, please!
AMALI GOLDEN - ELEPHANT (TALK ABOUT IT)
The Sydney songstress delivers a sultry R'n'B synth-laden jam which was written and produced with fellow Sydneysider, producer Beau Golden (Daniel Johns Vera Blue, M-Phazes). The song tells a story of isolation as two people drift apart in their relationship.
YUMI ZOUMA - PERSEPHONE
More wistful dreampop from the Auckland-based New Zealanders, with this latest single from their upcoming album 'Willowbank', out October 6 via Cascine.
THE DARDI SHADES - TUESDAY'S MY WEEKEND
Camden's - that's the New South Wales one, not north London's - indie popsters offer some dancey vibes on this Will Zegis (of The Rubens)-produced follow-up to debut 'Bullets' from earlier in the year. Bright poppy hooks meld with a gritty garage edge.
THE ACHILLES - MATCHES
Airy, folk-pop from the four Queensland Achilles family members: Megan (vocals, guitar), Joel (mandolin, bass), Tom (drums, ukulele) and Dan (trumpet, keys). Artfully blending strains of folk with alt-indie with rock undertone, helmed by the lush vocals of Megan Achilles.
