Track Of The Day :: Pleasure Heads - Middle Man
Words: Sam Geary
Released last Friday (February 16) through Public Records, "Middle Man' is Scots outfit Pleasure Heads' follow up to debut 'Concrete Lips' - and a bonny wee thing it is too.
The fuzzy pop Falkirk four - named after The Birthday Party's ‘(Sometimes) Pleasure Heads Must Burn’ - bring some fine melodies to bear on this three minute nugget, with jangly guitar lines, catchy earworm chorus and post-punk influences.
Vocalist Euan Purves describes 'Middle Man' as "a snapshot of simpler times, getting together with friends, nervously waiting around shady corner shops, hoping the fake ID works and the carry out is claimed. Sat around makeshift campfires, drinking ourselves to merry abandon until the sun's come up."
