Gender Roles drop third single - and announce free entry tour

Words: Amelia Callister

Brighton trio Gender Roles have just released their third single for Big Scary Monsters, the catchy and frenetic 'Gills'.

It's also short. At just under 1:30, it acts like a short zap to the ears. It, like previous singles 'Plastic' and 'About Her', will appear on the band's upcoming EP, 'Lazer Rush', due out on April 13.

"For me, 'Gills' is about adapting to your surroundings, like getting thrown in the deep end, you have to deal with it," says vocalist and guitarist Tom Bennett.

Having just completed a full UK tour with Jamie Lenman - see our Brighton review here - the band are back out on the road next month to celebrate their EP launch - and each of the nine dates are entirely free, gratis and nothing to pay!

"What better way to celebrate our new EP than to drive up and down the country spreading the joy and ringing the bells that a new record is in town. We wanted it to be a free entry tour because it's free. Like, there's no entry fee. It's more fun for everyone which makes it more fun for us," adds Bennett.

So check out 'Gills' - and then hop down to see if Gender Roles will be coming somewhere near you.
