** PREMIERE ** Waves of Dread - Over Now
Words: Ellie Ward
Newcastle-upon-Tyne's Waves of Dread return with the explosive 'Over Now'. Officially out on July 16, Little Indie is made up to bring you the track a little earlier for its premiere.
This latest release marks a slight departure from last single 'Sun Shows' (released in May), and one which sees the band take a more direct approach to their usual noisy stylings.
Clocking in at just under three and a half minutes, this is in fact their shortest outing so far, and also their most 'pop sounding' effort. The crystalline guitars and transcendent dual harmonies and chugging bassline, with snappy, pop sensibilities laid over, creates an upbeat soundscape that is infectiously moreish.
"It's not the most inspired song - a bit of a three chord wonder for the most part - but it's certainly fun to play and it's been a favourite for many live," says lead vocalist Nick Hodgson. "It's basically about being off your face but not really enjoying it because someone's chewing your ear off. So yeah, it's the next 'Imagine'!"
