Track Of The Day :: FEHM - Scarborough Warning

Words: Sam Geary

If you want to be assured of quality in northern post-punk, just check if producer Matt Peel's (Eagulls, Autobahn, Bad Breeding) name is on the credits. The latest from the master of the desk at Leeds' Nave studios in this genre is ‘Scarborough Warning’ by Leeds post-punk quintet FEHM.

Released on July 7, ‘Scarborough Warning’ sees the band venture further into the darker sonic depths that their last releases hinted at, while layers of synths, guitar melodies and driving basslines ride beneath Paul Riddle’s stark and melodic vocals.

“'Scarborough Warning' is fundamentally about asking questions on why we can’t all stand together regardless of sex, race or religion," states Riddle. "It jumps between first, second and third person perspectives, from my own thought process to that of other people's."
