** VIDEO PREMIERE ** Monks In The Wood - Captivated State

Words: Amelia Callister

London-based Monks In The Wood follow their latest single release, ‘Captivated State’, with a new video to accompany the track - and it's a puzzler!

The Peckham five-piece today air the visual treatment - written and directed by vocalist/guitarist Matt Power - which Little Indie is pleased to premiere, if still confused as to what it's all about.

“When we were coming up with ideas for the visuals, we wanted the viewer to create their own twisted synopsis of the video, as it’s a story that can’t really be told without watching it first," says vocalist/guitarist Daniel Toone of the clip, which they filmed in and around their South London stomping ground (Peckham, Tooting and Borough).

The rather removed dual vocals of Toone and Power, are replicated in the clip which switches between past and present with indeed, a hard to fathom, make your own mind up, storyline. Opening with a smartly dressed guy walking along the street who is then kidnapped, bundled into the boot of a car, and then tied to a chair on the roof of a building where he is given a pasting by a chap who is obviously not best pleased with him. Why? Could it be to do with the girl we see our man visiting at a house? Or is there more going on in this four-minute tale than meets the eye? Answers in the video comments, not a postcard, please!

Monks In The Wood are: Daniel Toone (vocals/guitar), Matt Power (vocals/guitar), Laurence Brydges (bass), Eva Timisela (keys), James Oliver (drums).
