Edinburgh inde rockers Retro Video Club keep the big tunes coming.
After we last heard from them back in March with 'Addicted', this latest from the quartet, unveiled at the end of June, 'Night In', is definitely the kind of thing you wouldn't mind spending an evening at home with. From the slow lead in, as vocalist Liam Allison makes plans for the night ("Honey you know it’s getting dark out these days / I said I would come over if you’d stay up late"), it steadily builds to a big anthemic beast, as it changes its lyrical complexion on the chorus: "I’m sick and tired of the fighting / And hurtful things you’re writing / And things get a little bit frightening / When you feel you’re falling in too deep again".
The band have been building on a steady succession of singles over the last year, including last autumn's '3AM', and 'Night In' signals they have plenty more in the bag.
You can catch Retro Video Club live at this coming weekend's TRSMT festival in Glasgow.
