Track Of The Day :: Texans Blushing are in 'Control' on debut album cut

Words: Sam Geary

We last heard from Austin, Texas' Blushing back in the spring with 'Dream Merchants'. Now the dreampop-alt-gaze quartet return with 'Control'.

And not just that, but the track comes from their self-titled debut album. released last Friday via Wallflower Records.

Recorded, mixed and produced by Elliott Frazier of Ringo Deathstarr, the three-minute 'Control' is part post-punk, part coldwave and part-shoegaze, helmed by the ghostlike vocals of bassist Christina Carmona.

"Can't escape the mind you surround", she sings through a driving dark beat and ominous guitar lines; the lyrical theme of being controlled not only by others but by your own mind.
