The Jacques return fizzin' on 'Alka-Seltzer’

Words: Sam Geary

London four-piece The Jacques have followed previous single ‘Kiss The Pharaoh’, released earlier this year, with a dynamic new single, ‘Alka-Seltzer’.

The release comes ahead of their headline shows at London’s The Water Rats and Crofter’s Rights in Bristol later this month.

“We wrote 'Alka-Seltzer' just before Will joined the band a few years ago," says lead singer Finn. “I came up with the riff with him in mind in the hope that he might be impressed and want to join the band, which feels very funny to admit now. I’m sure he would find that funny too.”

A relentless, thundering bassline underpins the four-minute-plus track, which opens on a jarring burst of distorted guitar, before launching itself into a chaotic blend of infectiously twisted riffs and potent vocals.
