'XX' marks the new single spot for Parisian synthpoppers The Blackmordia

Words: Charlie Emmett

Got to 'fess up here and say on first sighting of Parisian band The Blackmordia singer Peter Moisan's bare chest, tattoos, and heavily lined eyes, and hearing the synth heavy first notes, it was almost going to be a 'non, merci' for 'XX'. But very soon that changed to a 'oui, oui!' - when Moisan put some clothes on and his voice is très bon after the first drop around 36 seconds in, and very listenable.

It is a grower, this, and Moisan and the chorus make the song come alive, perhaps as it is based on his own  life experiences; the song and video tackling issues around mental health and their effect on love and relationships.

The dark, 80s synthpop-influenced single is out via Throne Music now, and the first cut from their upcoming debut album. Watch via Bastien Sableì's video below.
