Sufjan Stevens’ just released new album, 'Carrie & Lowell' is a work of intimacy and beauty detailing personal songs that explore his grief following the death of his mother in 2012, and reckoned to be not just his own best work yet, but also one of the best albums of this year by anyone.
The Brooklyn-based songwriter opened his current US tour at the Academy Of Music in Philadelphia two nights ago (April 9) bringing a number of the record's songs to the set for the first time.
