Keep On Track :: VANT

Words: Alison Mack

Fast-rising, London-based alt-rockers VANT look edgy enough, which befits the style of this free download offer 'Birth Certificate', which despite bring a demo has enough power - and a few 'f' words - to fire engines.

The track is an adjunct to their official April AA debut single, 'Parasite'/'Do You Know Me?' (out on Dumb Blood Records), which has already seen them compared to The Strokes, and as "a cross between The Kinks and Pixies". With frontman Mattie Vant steering a course around furious guitar frenzy with ravaged, urgent vocals, it's not surprising that they are fast building up a buzz with their live shows.

VANT are comprised of Mattie, originally from Seaham in County Durham, who relocated to London in 2012; old friend and drummer, Swedish Martin Söderin; Welsh bassist Billy Morris - who Vant met while working at Dalston music venue Birthdays - and lead guitarist Henry Eastham from Blackpool.

After just playing The Alternative Escape in Brighton last Saturday, Vant will support Royal Blood at E-Werk in Koln, Germany on July 1. Before that...
