November 27 2015 - Hot Top Ten

NIGHT BEATS - POWER CHILD
After featuring the Seattle-based Texan garage-psych rollers here a few weeks ago with 'Sunday Mourning', the Heavenly Recordings signings now share another track from 'Who Sold My Generation', their debut album out January 19, recorded on old two-inch tape. There's retro.

FAIRCHILD - BREATHLESS
Title track from the now Manchester-based Australians' early 2016 dropping EP. The slow, 80s styled, laid-back track was produced by friend and collaborator Catherine Marks (Foals, The Killers, Wolf Alice) and recorded on the Australian Gold Coast. Catch them live on November 28 at ‘Sucker Club’ at Tooting Tram & Social, south London.

TABLEFOX - SOMETHING BETTER
Kiwi five-piece from Auckland debut album 'Objects' released on November 20. Recorded in a remote unused hospital that is being run as a studio, a lovely opening gradually builds into a bit of a grunge-pop rocker.

KODIAK BLUE - ORBITA
Second experimental synth single from London-based producer/ songwriter Harrison Cargill's debut EP 'Sputnik' released on December 2. Out of this world vocals, airy pads and shuddering bass resting on a sample of the sound transmitted by the satellite.

THIS LITTLE TRACTOR - HA HA HA
Shrops props to folktronica outfit with single released earlier this month from the album 'Keeping It Simple'. Electronica combined with acoustic instruments and multi layered harmony vocals create a quirky evocative warmth.

SWIM - NEXT TO ME
Duo Erika Rosén & Carl Nordström from Malmö, Sweden with their debut single and title track from their upcoming first EP, out December 11 via With Love Recordings. A warm and alluring soundscape dashed with Swedish melancholy, a strumming bass enriched by playful, melodic synths and Rosén's vocal delivery.

PRELUDES - CEMETARY
One of three tracks from Icelandic dreamfolk outfit's new EP 'Decades' released last week. Typically serene, cool and with a quirky element here and there when you least expect it, as you might expect from the country that gave us Björk. This is their first EP since they released 'Berlin' in 2013, and their fifth in total since their debut in 2011 with 'The Moth'.

LULL - CURSED
We introduced this north London quartet just over a year ago here. After releasing the MBV-gazed 'Bubble Tea' earlier this year, they are now putting out this digital double release (w/'Rusk') on November 30. Sounding less gaze, more psych-grunge compared to their earlier works.

ADAM FRENCH - HUNTER
23-year-old Cheshire-raised, now London-based producer with one of two self-produced tracks just unveiled (w/'Punchbag Love'). Atmospheric build of drums and guitar, but owned by French's distinctive voice and catchy chorus.

AVERS - DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU
Sixties-sounding sextet from Richmond, Virginia released this dreamy psych-gaze lead single two weeks ago, ahead of their upcoming 'Wasted Tracks' EP, out December 4. Catch live tonight (November 27) at hometown show at The Camel in Richmond, VA.
